A Spectacular Display of Art; Boswall House

The Bespoke art collection for Boswall House (No. 2 Cornwall Terrace), displays a variety of British art both historical and contemporary, chosen from a collection of different Artists. The art, managed by Paula Lent, is developed by her huge passion and widespread legal and arts background to discover the artworks which complement interior designed schemes. The beautiful array of artwork situated all around the house is worth a look. The influential Modernist figures grounds the collection, incorporating a wall relief by definitive British artist Henry Moore (1898-1986). Moore’s versatility and pathos for the human figure would inspire generations of future sculptors including the movement studies of Dorothy Brook (b.1951).

The house also exhibits numerous paintings, all in which are affectionate towards a twenty-first century audience. Furthermore, the art is created with familiar and emotional localities. Portraiture and its many forms of communication are grounded in Joseph Wright of Derby’s (1734-1797) resplendent Portrait of a Lady of c.1760. The indomitable painting introduces the favoured female subject in the work of infamous celebrity photographer Terry O’Neill (b. 1938) and the increasingly renowned pixelated paintings of Kim Dong Yoo (b.1965). The politics of beauty and the artist’s contract with the viewer is strikingly addressed in the work of J. Park (b.1983). Aesthetic appeal, fragility and thus morality are investigated by Alexander James (b. 1967) with the subject matter of ethereal butterflies and flowers, while Marc Quinn’s (b.1964) floral canvas holds similar sumptuous allure.

There was a fantastic event that took place this morning, with huge thanks to Mariana Haseldine who organised a private viewing of the Valentino exhibition at Somerset House.

All the guests were taken back to Lethbridge House for brunch and a tour of the magnificent house. Interior designed by Nicola Fontenella, you can see that the house is as exquisite as the Valentino Dresses.

PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS SPOTLIGHT THE UK’S

PREMIER PROPERTY COMPANIES

The very best developments, architecture and interior design from across the entire United Kingdom were celebrated at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square on Friday 12^th October, 2012. The leading property professionals behind these outstanding projects were invited to attend the UK Property Awards in association with Gaggenau, Yamaha and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Jenny Blanc and her design team were thrilled to be presented with two awards for their sympathetic restoration of a 15^th Century Lodge in Hertfordshire, winning not only Best Interior Design Private Residence East of England but also Best Interior Design Private Residence United Kingdom.  This means they will now go forward to compete in the World’s Best in their category.  Jenny Blanc says, “It is wonderful to have your work acknowledged by your peers and this project was a joy to work on.  The owners placed themselves entirely in our hands to transform their wishes into reality.”

These awards, combined with the other regional awards’ programmes for Arabia, Asia Pacific, Africa, Europe and the Americas, form the globally renowned International Property Awards. Now in their 18^th year, they are the world’s most prestigious property competition and cover residential as well as commercial categories.

Judging was carried out through a meticulous process involving a panel of over 60 experts covering every aspect of the property business. The next stage of the awards’ programme is for top scoring five-star winners of each category to be re-judged against those from the other regions to determine the ultimate World’s Best winners. These will be announced at the grand final to be held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London on Friday, December 7^th, 2012.

Stuart Shield, president of the International Property Awards, says, “This has been a momentous year for the UK.  Having taken so many gold medals in the Olympics, we now look forward to seeing how many World’s Best accolades the UK can win when competing against the rest of the globe in the finals of the International Property Awards.”
